JACKSON HEIGHTS — Moser Bulova Park will get a renovation with nearly $1 million in funding from City Councilman Costa Constantinides.

Construction will include removal of a run-down bocce court and the installation of a new spray shower, along with new play equipment, according to Constantinides.

“The upgrades and beautifications will make Moser Bulova Park more fun for people of all ages to spend the day in and will make our district an enjoyable place for residents as well as visitors," said Constantinides, who allocatted $975,000 for the project in the most recent budget.

His office also funded part of a $1.6 million renovation to the Astoria Heights playground on 30th Road between 45th and 46th streets.

Moser Bulova Park, on 25th Avenue and 76th Street, was built after the Bulova Watch Company donated a 1.5 acre plot of land next to its factory in 1953, according to the Parks Department.

It was renamed after Louis Moser, a local neighborhood activist, in 1984.

There's currently handball courts, swings, basketball courts and other playground equipment as well as the bocce court, which will be removed.

Local groups praised the funding, including Donna Raymond of the North Queens Homeowners Assoiation.

"I am thrilled that Moser Bulova Park will soon be renovated," she said. "I am proud that the planned upgrades will greatly benefit our community and make the neighborhood into a more beautiful place to live."

There is not a timeline for construction since the money was just alloccated, a spokesman for the Parks Department said.
