UNION SQUARE — A CrossFit gym will launch in September in the basement of Union Square's new Reebok store, the store announced.

Reebok FitHub opened on the ground floor of 1 Union Square West last week, but the gym — with 5,000 square feet of workout space, locker rooms and 10 showers — is still in the works, said Jay Adams, the gym’s general manager.

“CrossFit gyms are pretty much bare bones,” Adams said. “The build-out of the gym is not that much. There’s basically just the flooring and racks for the weights."

The gym is already taking online registrations for its CrossFit classes —  a workout that combines aerobic exercise, gymnastics and Olympic weightlifting. A three-month membership costs $250 per month, a 6-month membership is $225 per month, and an entire year runs $200 per month.

Members of the gym will receive 15 percent off purchases in the Reebok store upstairs, Adams said.

CrossFit Union Square is owned by Rhinoco, which worked with Reebok to open gym and retail combo outlets in Midtown and Miami Beach.

"The guys [at Rhinoco] operate the most successful gyms in the world," Adams said. "The head of training for Union Square [Annie Thorisdottir] is a two-time CrossFit champion. You're not going to find that anywhere else in the city."
