Man Lights Cat on Fire in Bronx, Police Say

THE BRONX — A man lit a cat on fire in front of his Bronx apartment building Friday morning, according to the NYPD.

A security camera captured Ernesto Bailey, 31, pouring fluid on a cat that was lying in front of 690 East 182nd Street at about 11 a.m. and using a lighter to set the animal on fire, police said.

Police identified Bailey through the video and canvassed the building until they found him in his apartment.

He was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, torture of an animal and reckless endangerment and arson.
