HELL'S KITCHEN — A cyclist riding a speed bike along the Hudson River was hospitalized after he crashed into a shuttle bus Thursday morning, authorities said.

The unidentified man collided with the New Jersey bus as it crossed the bike lane on its way to the Midtown Ferry Terminal at 12th Avenue and 40th Street about 9:40 a.m., police and fire officials said.

The bicyclist hit the bus's door, according to a man who works for New York Waterway, the company that manages the ferry and shuttle buses.

"He had to be going fast because he busted the door," the employee, who declined to give his name, said.

The bicyclist was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he was in serious condition, according to the FDNY.

New York Waterway could not be reached for comment.
