WILLIAMSBURG — It's like Smorgasburg — but with James Beard Award-winning chefs.

Brooklyn foodies will have the chance to hobnob with culinary stars like Wylie Dufresne, Mission Chinese's Danny Bowien and Momofuku Milk Bar's Christina Tosi at the East River State Park this fall while sampling barbecue from more than 20 chefs.

The event, called the All-Star Chef BBQ, costs $40 and closes out the second annual Taste Talks Brooklyn in Williamsburg, a conference aiming to talk about what's next for the food world but with a Brooklyn focus.

It runs from Friday, Sept. 12 to Sunday, Sept. 14.

"The greater theme of the festival is the future of taste," said Daniel Stedman, director of Taste Talks. "It's definitely about the people who bring these things to life."

Besides the closing barbecue, the festival features panels, workshops and demonstrations on the future of food in Brooklyn, all curated by Bowien.

Some panels focus on topics in the food world for restaurateurs, like "Is Brooklyn the Next Manhattan?" or "The Next Big Thing," a panel where Mario Batali will moderate a panel about how to predict trends.

Others are more "how-to's," like a workshop on food photography by photographer Daniel Krieger and one on hosting a dinner party.

But several — like the barbecue — have eating as part of the event.

"Our festival is geared to a food loving public," Stedman said, "not necessarily an industry or professional  audience."

Tickets for Taste Talks Brooklyn may be purchased individually or in packages. A full schedule can be seen online.
