QUEENS — With hot weather here, restaurants have turned to lighter fare and refreshing drinks in order to help beat the heat.

DNAinfo.com asked Forest Hills chefs to share recipes for their summer favorites, from soups and salads to desserts and drinks so that you can try them at home.

Chef Danny Brown, who helms danny brown Wine Bar & Kitchen, suggested a cooling tomato gazpacho made with a dash of espelette pepper and yogurt.

The dish has very few ingredients and steps, so blend it up and enjoy.

Try a delicious fattoush salad, made with greens like purslane and a pomegranate dressing, served with crunchy pita chips.

The dish, served up by Chef Wafa Chami, of Wafa’s Restaurant, provides a refreshing crunch that goes along well with any meal.

If you have a sweet tooth, whip up a batch of port and white wine-poached peaches with a dollop of Greek yogurt, as served by Chef Paul Sagos of Agora Taverna.

The recipe combines the sweetness of peaches and cinnamon with the yogurt's tartness.

Wash it all down with a Station No. 15, a version of the Pimm's Cup from Forest Hills Station House.

The delicious drink combines cooling cucumber and mint with a jolt of rye.

There is also a shrimp ceviche from Jade Eatery and Lounge and a sangria from Chef Jason Zukas of Tazzina.
