13-Year-Old Cyclist Seriously Hurt After Being Hit by Cab, Police Say
MANHATTAN — A 13-year-old boy was seriously hurt Sunday when a green borough taxi hit him as he rode his bike in Manhattan Valley, police said.
The boy, whose name was not released, was not wearing a helmet when he rode through a red light on West 108th Street at Manhattan Avenue and was hit by the southbound Toyota Sienna about 3 p.m., an NYPD spokesman said.
The boy was taken to Harlem Hospital with serious injuries but in stable condition, police said.
The 57-year-old driver, whose name was also not released, remained on the scene and was not expected to face any criminal charges, a police spokesman said.
