MOTT HAVEN — The FDNY calendar is no longer an all boys club.

Danae Mines, a firefighter from Engine Company 60 in the South Bronx, is featured as Miss March in the fire department's 2015 Calendar of Heroes — the first woman ever to be included.

The more than 10,000-member FDNY currently only has 41 female firefighters.

Mines, who hails from the South Bronx and who has been a firefighter for almost 11 years, said she was motivated to take part in the calendar to help raise money for the FDNY Foundation and to inspire other women to sign up for the job. She was pleased with the way her photo came out.

"I love the picture they took, and I love the month," she said. "It's Women's History Month."

Images were taken by celebrity photographer Patrick McMullan.

The calendars can be ordered online here, with all proceeds going to the FDNY Foundation, the department's official not-for-profit organization created to help train New York City's firefighters and promote fire safety.
