MANHATTAN — An upscale Chinese restaurant that's played host to celebrities including Karl Lagerfeld and Blake Lively was robbed over Independence Day weekend, police said.

Philippe Restaurant, on the corner of 60th Street and Madison Avenue, was robbed of a laptop computer from one of its upstairs offices at about 1 p.m. on July 4, according to the NYPD. The restaurant has hosted celebrities such as Chris Noth and Kimora Lee according to after-party photos on its website.

The suspect parked his bicycle outside the restaurant and walked up the side stairs, trying to open any unlocked doors along the way, according to surveillance video released Thursday. He eventually headed to the third floor where he stole a laptop computer, police said.

The burglar wore an orange shirt, blue shorts and black sneakers.

Anyone who recognizes the man is encouraged to call 1-800-577-8477. All calls are confidential, police said.
