MANHATTAN — At least two trains were temporarily stalled in a tunnel under the Hudson River Tuesday morning when a power outage halted Amtrak and New Jersey Transit trains, officials said.

The trains came to a halt in the tube about 8 a.m. when overhead power lines operated by Amtrak started malfunctioning, an Amtrak spokesman said. A diesel powered train was dispatched to pull them from the tunnel.

The train cars still had power for lights and air conditioning and no injuries were reported, officials said.

The power was back on by 8:30 a.m. but officials said delays could be expected on Amtrak between Philidelphia and New York as well as on NJ Transit's Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast and Midtown Direct lines, officials said.

Commuters posted photos of clogged rail platforms and angry comments on social media after the disruptions.

"The fact that I'm getting off the train 45 minutes after I was supposed to and in Hoboken instead of NYC is why I hate NJ Transit," tweeted @ShopaholicProbz.

"I hate commuting," the user added.
