UPPER EAST SIDE — A thief used a cinder block to smash the window of a Second Avenue nail salon and steal cash from the shop last week, police said.

The suspect used the block to break the side window of the Yo Yo Nail salon at 1812 Second Ave. about 2 a.m. on June 15, the NYPD said. Once inside, he stole a cash box containing $220 before fleeing, police said. A video surveillance camera captured the suspect entering and leaving the store.

The suspect was last seen wearing a white long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans and a Yankees cap, police said.

The owner of YoYo Nail could not immediately be reached for comment.

Burglaries in the 19th Precinct are up so far this year, with 85 compared to 77 at the same time last year, NYPD statistics show.
