BROOKLYN — A man was seriously injured after he hopped on the back of a food delivery truck and rode it until he fell off near McCarren Park Wednesday morning, police said.

The surfer, whose name was not released but is believed to be in his 20s, fell off near Bedford Avenue and North 11th Street about 4:30 a.m., according to the NYPD and the FDNY.

He was taken to Bellevue Hospital with serious injuries but in stable condition, officials said.

The box truck driver did not immediately stop after his stowaway dropped off, but investigators don't believe he even knew the man was on board, a police spokesman said.

Neighbor Amanda Foreman, 29, saw the man lying in the road as the truck drove away and ran down from her second-floor apartment to his side.

"He wasn't talking. He wasn't moving. He was laying on his back," she said.

"His clothing was shredded off. He was bleeding from his neck and arms. I checked his pulse on his right wrist and neck. It was very shallow."

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
