17 Subway Lines Face Service Changes This Weekend

MIDTOWN — This weekend is the first of the spring season, and you'll get plenty of time to travel aboveground in the warmer weather as 17 subway lines are slated for service changes.

Here is the breakdown per line:

1 Line: Trains will be suspended between 96th Street and Van Cortland Park-242nd Street from 11:30 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.

4 Line: Uptown trains will run express from Grand Central to 125th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Sunday and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Northbound trains will run local from Brooklyn Bridge City Hall to Grand Central from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

5 Line: Trains will be suspended between Eastchester Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Free shuttle buses will run between Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street.

Trains will also run every 20 minutes between East 180th Street and Bowling Green from 5:45 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and from 7:45 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

6 Line: Uptown trains will run express from Grand Central to 125th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Trains are skipping Middletown Road and Castle Hill Avenue in The Bronx in both directions at all times until May.

7 Line: Trains will be suspended between Times Square and Queensboro Plaza from 2 a.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Monday. Riders can use the E, F, N or Q trains for service between Manhattan and Queens. Free shuttle buses will make all subway station stops between Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue and Queensboro Plaza. The 42nd Street shuttle will operate overnight to provide service in Manhattan.

A Line: Uptown trains will run express from Canal Street to 59th Street-Columbus Circle from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Trains will be suspended between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Trains will be rerouted to Rockaway Park, replacing the Rockaway Park Shuttle. Free shuttle buses will provide service between Far Rockaway and Beach 90th Street.

C Line: Uptown trees will run express from Canal Street to 59th Street-Columbus Circle from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

E Line: Jamaica Center-bound trains will run local from Queens Plaza to Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue from 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

D Line: Trains will run local in both directions between 34th Street-Herald Square and West 4th Street from 12:01 a.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Monday.

Coney Island-bound trains will be rerouted over the N line from 36th Street in Brooklyn to Coney Island Stillwell Avenue from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

F Line: Uptown trains will be rerouted over the A line from Jay Street-Metro Tech to West 4th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Coney Island-bound trains will skip 4th Avenue-9th Street, 15th Street-Prospect Park and Fort Hamilton Parkway from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Jamaica-bound trains will run local from 21st Street-Queensbridge to Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue from 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

G Line: Church-Avenue bound trains will skip 4th avenue-9th Street, 15th Street-Prospect Park, Fort Hamilton Parkway from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

J Line: Jamaica Center-bound trains will run express from Marcy Avenue to Broadway Junction from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday.

Q Line: Coney Island-bound trains will run express from Newkirk Plaza to Kings Highway from 10:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Trains are also skipping Parkside Avenue, Beverly Road and Cortelyou Road at all times until early summer for station repair work.

Service will be extended to Ditmars Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

N Line: Late night trains are rerouted over the Manhattan Bridge until October for Hurricane Sandy recovery work.

R Line: Trains will run over the Manhattan Bridge. There will be no service at Jay Street-MetroTech, Court Street, Whitehall Street, Rector Street, Cortlandt Street and City Hall.

42nd Street Shuttle: Trains will run overnight from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Monday.

Rockaway Shuttle: Service will be replaced by the A train from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
