THE BRONX — Eleven people were injured, three seriously, when a fast-moving fire tore through a Throgs Neck home Thursday morning, fire officials said.

The blaze broke out at 1020 Dean Ave., near Barkley Avenue, around 9:25 a.m. and took 170 firefighters about three hours to extinguish the ferocious blaze as they contended with a driving snowstorm, FDNY officials said.

All of the injured people, including five firefighters, were taken to Jacobi or Albert Einstein hospitals in the Bronx, where they were expected to survive, the FDNY said.

"It was a very difficult, wind-driven fire," a fire spokesman said. "It's a block or two off the water. We had the snow, the ice, the wind that made it difficult to knock down."

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
