BRIGHTON BEACH —  A 73-year-old man was struck and killed by a construction vehicle plowing snow in front of his Brighton Beach building Monday afternoon, police said.

The privately operated plow was backing up on Oceana Terrace between Oceana Drive West and Brighton Beach Avenue when it struck Stanislav Chernyshov as he was crossing Oceana eastbound, the NYPD said.

Chernyshov, who lived at 40 Oceana Drive West, was rushed to Coney Island Hospital with severe head trauma where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The 33-year-old snowplow driver remained on the scene and was not initially charged, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
