CANARSIE — A livery van driver was fatally wounded Friday afternoon when his Ford Econoline van collided with a parked delivery truck in Canarsie.

Police responded to a 911 call just after 1:30 p.m. reporting a car accident around the intersection of East 100 St. and Foster Ave.

On arrival police found that the Ford van struck an unoccupied delivery truck double-parked on Foster Ave.

The Ford van driver, Elin Medar, 37, a resident of Canarsie, was pronounced dead on arrival at the nearby Brookdale Hospital.

Early reports suggest that the livery van was driving westbound on Foster Ave. when it crashed into the rear of the parked delivery truck.

Police are continuing to investigate the accident further.
