COBBLE HILL — There are already baguettes at Bien Cuit and aperitifs at Bar Tabac, but Cobble Hill is just now getting a little piece of Paris fashion.
Anne Willi, a French fashion designer, is bringing her collection to Cobble Hill with a new Bergen Street boutique next month.
Since September, Willi has sold her clothing line at a pop-up shop in the Invisible Dog Art Center, hoping to dive into the city’s fashion scene after establishing herself in Europe and Japan.
Her new 47 Bergen St. shop, the former location of Recession Art, a local gallery that will close at the end of the month, will be her first brick-and-mortar location in New York.
“With the pop-up, we tried to recreate the look that Anne has at her store in Paris,” said Anne Mourier, an Invisible Dog artist-in-residence who is helping Willi bring her work to New York.
The pop-up shop will close at the end of January and the new neighboring boutique will open in February.
Willi specializes in women’s clothes along with a select range of accessories to complement her designs, said Mourier, who described the designs as “classical and simple.” Prices range from $250 to $300.
“It’s really classical feminine elegance,” she said.
Mourier first met the designer in Paris 15 years ago when she started purchasing her clothes. The two stayed in contact and when Mourier moved to New York, they decided to bring Willi’s brand to Brooklyn.
Mourier currently owns the Bergen Street store but Willi will take over it in a year, she said.
“I wanted to bring something different,” said Mourier. “I felt like [the neighborhood] would really appreciate a craft like this.”
