WOODSIDE — Talk about open government.
Incoming Mayor Bill de Blasio gave reporters and sanitation workers a little more than they bargained for during a press conference Friday on the city’s response to the snowstorm, performing a mock striptease in response to a question about how he was keeping warm.
After WCBS radio reporter Rich Lamb asked de Blasio how many layers he had on, the city's top exec reached for the zipper of his “Office of the Mayor” jacket, coyly unzipped it to his midsection, revealing a blue button-down shirt beneath.
"You want me to go farther, Rich?” de Blasio asked, with a laugh, before saying in a smoky voice, “I have on an undershirt also.”
The assembled onlookers laughed, surprised, if not a little embarrassed. De Blasio confirmed that he wore a similar outfit to shovel in, with the addition of a sweater.
The video quickly went viral online, with one New Yorker urging the mayor to use a little restraint.
"it's only Day 3, man! Leave something to the imagination," joked Twitter user @sassyblackneighbor.
"#Rawr," added Twitter user @ccmarce_writes.
