QUEENS — A thief robbed a Corona check casher Sunday by dousing the store in lighter fluid then holding up a lighter and demanding money, the NYPD said.
The man emptied two bottles of lighter fluid on the counter and into the wells below the window partitions of ATN Financial Services, 94-72 Corona Ave., about 2:30 a.m., according to surveillance video released by police.
The footage shows him walking calmly back and forth before stopping to present a lighter to the clerk.
The clerk handed over an undetermined amount of cash and the suspect fled, a police spokesman said.
No injuries were reported in the incident, police said.
