Man Carrying a Dozen Knives Arrested at JFK Airport

 A man was arrested in possession of a dozen blades and several lighters in his carry on bag at JFK airport on Saturday.

QUEENS — A man carrying a bag loaded with knives was arrested in JetBlue's Terminal 5 on Saturday by police, the Port Authority said.

Timothy Schiavo, Jr., 29, was nabbed by Port Authority Police as he was going through the JFK screening point on Saturday afternoon, spokesman Joseph Pentangelo said.

He was discovered to be carrying a trench knife, many other blades and also lighters in his carry-on bag, Pentangelo said.

Schiavo was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degreeand was was later released and is due back in court on December, 23.  

A resident of Patchogue, N.Y., Schiavo had no prior arrests and seemed to be "in a comfortable state of mind," according to Pentangelo.

Schiavo told the police officers that he liked knives and collected them, the spokesman said.
