QUEENS — A massive fire engulfed six Middle Village homes, displacing four families and injuring 13 firefighters Monday night, an FDNY spokeswoman said.

The fire started about 8:30 p.m. inside 78-15 68th Ave., near 78th Street, quickly spreading from home to home and ultimately scorching six buildings, the spokeswoman said.

The Red Cross provided emergency housing for four displaced families, a spokesman said.

Thirteen firefighters were injured of the approximately 100 who raced to the scene, the FDNY said.

Most were treated for minor injuries at area hospitals, the FDNY said.

The blaze was brought under control about 10:41 p.m., the FDNY said.

The fire's cause was still under investigation Tuesday morning.
