WILLIAMSBURG — A woman walking her dog in McCarren Park got a call from a man who said he had taken her mother hostage and "would kill her" if she didn't send him nude pictures of herself, police said.

The woman told cops the suspect called her cell phone at noon Aug. 4 and said he had kidnapped her mother.

He demanded she buy prepaid phone cards and tell him the pin numbers of the cards, which she did, officials said.

He then "demanded she go home and take naked pictures of herself and send them to him through a text message," and then he hung up the phone, police said.

But then the woman called her mother, who said she "was never kidnapped or harmed in any manner," according to police. And after the woman reported the man's number to police, no one answered the phone.

"She was fearful and fearful for her family members for this extortion scheme," the report says.

No suspect has been identified in the case.
