SOUNDVIEW — A man was shot and killed while standing beside his girlfriend on a Bronx street corner early Tuesday morning, cops said.

Oscar Araujo Jr., 20, was at Commonwealth Avenue and East 172nd Street when a gunman shot him in the head and fled just after midnight, according to an NYPD spokesman.

Araujo was pronounced dead at the scene, cops said.

Police were still investigating the shooting Tuesday and said the gunman fled in what appeared to be a black livery cab.

Araujo's father, Oscar Araujo Sr., said the shooting was related to a dispute with another man over the girlfriend.

"It was a stupid argument over a girl," said the elder Araujo, 43, sobbing.

"I told him, 'Leave that woman. She's going to destroy your life.' But he wouldn't listen to me. Now I don't get my son back," he added.

Araujo said he was sleeping when a neighbor woke him up by banging on his window, telling him his son was dead.

''She told me, 'Get up! Your son is dead on the corner,'" he said. "I ran over and first thing I see is my son laying on the floor on his back. Oh my God.''

The victim's mother was on her way to The Bronx from the Dominican Republic Tuesday, his father said.

Araujo described his son as an aspiring rapper who graduated from Monroe High School and put out several songs under the name J-Hye.

"He was the best son. He was my dream," Araujo said. "That was everything for me."
