QUEENS — Just in time for summer, a Kew Gardens pub is expanding its outdoor dining area by 50 seats, the pub announced Tuesday.

The patio at the popular Austin’s Ale House, a fixture in the neighborhood, will also have a pergola intalled in the middle of the outdoor space to provide shade. The work is scheduled to be completed sometime in August.

“Upon full completion, it will be an outdoor oasis like no other and we are very proud and excited to provide this space for all to enjoy," said Mark Boccia, one of the pub owners.

Until now the pub's outdoor café, located next to the nearby Long Island Rail Road station, was able to serve about 30 guests.

During the construction, the patio will remain partially open with table service only.

The pub owners said the trees and rose bushes that currently grow in the area will not be affected by the expansion.
