DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — Swedish fashion meet Downtown Brooklyn.

Five years after H&M representatives first announced plans to open a location in the Fulton Street Mall, the fashion-forward retail giant finally has a firm opening date.

The approximately 29,000 square foot store will open at noon on July 3.

“Since our first U.S. store opened on New York’s Fifth Avenue in the year 2000, we have focused on expanding to the best locations throughout the greater New York City area,” Daniel Kulle, U.S. President for H&M, said in a statement. “We are excited to open our second store in one of the biggest boroughs in New York City and to contribute to the revitalization of the downtown area and of Fulton Mall itself.”

The store was originally slated to open in 2010 but construction was delayed due to its "proximity to a busy subway station," according to Racked.

H&M, located at 497-501 Fulton St., will also host a summer block party in celebration of the grand opening complete with games, prizes, muic, and food. The festival is open from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. to consumers who shop at the store on opening day.
