WEST VILLAGE — Fans of the acclaimed Village restaurants Market Table and The Little Owl will be happy as clams to hear about a bistro in the works on Hudson Street.

The eatery under construction at 420 Hudson St., at Leroy Street, will be called Quality Clam, according to recently posted signage and the restaurant's website.

The latest project of chef Joey Campanaro of Market Table and The Little Owl — with his Market Table partner Mike Price — will focus on "the adoration of one of chefs' favorite ingredients," according to a description given on invitations for a preview dinner the chefs hosted in April in Miami.

"This jewel box of a restaurant is not meant to be considered a 'clam shack' nor a 'fine dining establishment,'" the invitation said. "Rather [it will be] a neighborhood staple that simply feels right and creates the crave."

On the menu for the preview dinner were crispy clams, clam chowder arancini, sweet pea risotto and snapper crudo.

Entrees at Quality Clam will cost $30 and under, according to the restaurant's page on the reservations website OpenTable.

A full liquor license is pending for the space, which was home to the restaurant Out of the Kitchen until May 2012.

A Quality Clam spokeswoman said the new West Village spot will open this summer.
