SOUTH STREET SEAPORT — Police are looking for the man who lured a 12-year-old boy into a bathroom stall and sexually assaulted him, they said Friday.

The attack took place at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at South Street Seaport's Pier 17 — located at 89 South St., police said.

The suspect approached the boy, who was visiting New York with his grandmother, as he stood at one of the bathroom's urinals.

The suspect fled after the attack.

The boy continued to sight see with his grandmother for approximately an hour after the assault, but was taken to Bellevue Hospital after confiding in her about the attack, sources said.

Police have said that their investigation has been hindered by the seaport operator's failure to replace cameras damaged by Superstorm Sandy — a claim the company denies.

Cops describe the suspect as 30-year-old male, between five feet seven inches and five feet nine inches.

He is said to have medium complected skin, with brown and grey hair and facial hair.

He was last seen wearing a white shirt and grey sweatpants, law enforcement officials said.
