MANHATTAN — A man who has been in and out of jail for the last 20 years escaped while police officers were arresting him for dealing crack in Harlem.

Cops were in the process of arresting Lawrence Mason, 52, of Ozone Park at 1 p.m. on Saturday when he got away. Mason, who was apprehended at the corner of 116th Street and Lenox Avenue, ran into the subway and likely took the southbound 2 or 3 train, police said.

Mason’s criminal record dates back to the early 80's. He has been jailed 14 times since 1993, mostly for drug related offenses, police said.

He is 5-foot-6, 140 pounds, with long, kinky black hair and wore a black baseball cap, tan work boots, a black t-shirt and dark blue jeans.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should call the NYPD at 1-800-577-8477.
