MURRAY HILL — A 20-year-old man on a motorcycle was hurt after crashing into a bus in Murray Hill Thursday afternoon, police said.

The man, whose identity was not immediately known, was riding up Third Avenue about noon when he collided with an MTA bus in the middle of the intersection at East 34th Street, witnesses said.

The driver was rushed to Bellevue Hospital by an ambulance that happened to be near the scene, officials said. He was expected to survive, police said.

A witness said the bus, which was traveling along 34th Street, had the right of way when the crash occurred.

"The motorcycle ran the red light," said Rodney Peartree, 58, who works across the street. "He must have been going 60 miles per hour dead into it."

Booker Uzzell, a 65-year-old truck driver, was walking in the area when the accident happened.

"The bus was in the intersection, he couldn't go nowhere," Uzzell said. "I don't think the bus driver even saw him."
