INWOOD — A fire broke out in a Dyckman Street commerical building just after 8 p.m. Saturday night, officials said.

No one was injured in the blaze, which started on the second floor of 250 Dyckman St., home to plastics manufacturing company Just Plastics and the popular bicycle store Tread Bike Shop.

Just Plastics owner Robert Vermann said that the blaze started in the store's "polishing area," but declined to provide more details.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly and contain the damage to one small room, said Deputy Chief Clifford.

"It could have been a lot worse," said Clifford, who noted that the blaze was given an "all-hands" response as a precaution due to the nature of Just Plastic's business.

The building, which is owned by the neighboring Church of Latter Day Saints, is also located next to a gas station.
