BROOKLYN — Police were looking for information Monday to identify a young woman whose remains were found in a burned suitcase at a Bedford-Stuyvesant building.

The remains were discovered March 23 at 174 Hull St., a three-story building, more than 10 months after a fire occurred there on May 9, 2012, police said. It was not immediately clear how recently the woman died and when her remains were placed in the building, police said.

The woman was in her late teens to mid-20s, between 5 feet and 5 feet 6 inches tall, the NYPD said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto Crime Stoppers' website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting their tips to CRIMES (274637), then entering TIP577. All calls are strictly confidential.
