New Commercial to Save LICH Funded by Cobble Hill Association

COBBLE HILL — The Cobble Hill Association has funded a video that will run on NY1 Wednesday in an effort to save Long Island College Hospital from closure.

The State University of New York has been attempting to close the hospital for months, arguing the institution is draining money from SUNY Downstate, which includes LICH.

The Cobble Hill Association said it has raised well over $10,000 from residents and health-care workers all over the city, according to the New York Post. They hope to exceed $100,000.

Roy Sloan, the association's president, said enough money has already been raised to run the commercial “steadily" for at least a month, according to the Post.

A Brooklyn judge issued a restraining order on Monday halting health officials from closing the hospital, giving it a one-month reprieve.
