MURRAY HILL — A Queens livery car driver struck a postal worker on 154th Street near Northern Boulevard Friday afternoon, officials and witnesses said.

The unidentified mailman, who witnesses said was wearing headphones, was crossing the residential road mid-block when he was hit by the northbound black Prius livery car, officials said.

The female driver was on the phone when the accident occurred about 12:30 p.m., according to Joe Tursi, manager of the Federal Auto Body shop nearby.

"It looked like both people weren't paying attention," Tursi said.

The driver remained at the scene, where a crowd gathered and began hectoring her about being on the phone.

"She had to answer a lot of questions from people who weren't in law enforcement," Tursi said.

The postman was taken to Flushing Hospital, fire department officials said. His condition was not immediately known.
