Hill Country BBQ to Open in Downtown Brooklyn's 'Restaurant Row'

By Janet Upadhye | March 6, 2013 12:22pm

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — Live country music, beer-braised cowboy pinto beans and boneless prime rib are headed to Brooklyn.

Hill Country Barbecue will open later this year at 345 Adams St., alongside Potbelly, Panera Bread, The Archives Bar at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge, and Shake Shack.

Muss Development is converting the former government offices into new retail and condo space and hopes the area will soon be known as "Downtown Brooklyn’s Restaurant Row."

“Downtown Brooklyn is a natural draw for world-class dining options,” said developer Joshua L. Muss in a statement. “Adding a restaurant of this caliber to our roster of retail tenants at 345 Adams St. will elevate our property here and blend perfectly with the continued evolution of the entire neighborhood.”

Downtown Brooklyn is not Hill Country's first rodeo.

With two locations in Manhattan, the Texas-themed restaurant is known not only for its distinctive, dry-rub style meats and in-house meat-smoke room but also for the nightly foot-stompin' music. The new 10,000-square-foot location will host "American Roots" music most nights of the week.

Hill Country Barbecue is expected to open by fall of 2013.
