UPPER WEST SIDE — Shakespeare in the Park, the cherished outdoor theater festival at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park that attracts massive crowds and big-name stars, is entering its 51st season this summer and has announced its 2013 lineup.

The free season will feature Shakespeare's "The Comedy of Errors" and a new musical version of the bard's "Love's Labour's Lost."

The Public Theater called the new musical, from the creators of "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson," which started at its theater and moved to Broadway, "a love letter to Shakespeare in the Park."

"Love's Labour's Lost," which the theater is describing as "smart, sexy and irreverent," will be directed and adapted by two-time Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers, with songs from Obie Award winner Michael Friedman.

The contemporary adaptation centers around the King and his best guy friends reuniting at their five-year college reunion and deciding to swear off women, until they encounter four clever ladies from their past.

"The Comedy of Errors," back in Central Park for the first time in 20 years, will star Jesse Tyler Ferguson of ABC's "Modern Family" fame and Hamish Linklater from the CBS sitcom "The New Adventures of Old Christine."

The show will feature lots of physical comedy and centers around a set of twins reunited after being separated at childhood.

"The Comedy of Errors" will mark Daniel Sullivan's fourth time directing a Shakespeare in the Park production.

Free tickets for Shakespeare in the Park are given out, two per person, at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park at 1 p.m. the day of the show, or distributed in the boroughs on select dates. To get to the box office, enter the park at Central Park West and West 81st Street, or Fifth Avenue and East 79th Street. Tickets are also available through a "virtual lottery" the day of the show on the Public Theater's website. Summer Supporters who make a $350 tax-deductible donation receive two reserved seats to the 2013 season.
