Off-Duty Cop Charged With DWI After Crashing Into Bronx Street Sign

NORWOOD — An off-duty NYPD police officer was arrested Sunday after he crashed his car into a street sign, police said.

Elvyn Hernandez, 35, was taken into custody about 7:30 p.m. in the confines of the 52nd Precinct, which polices Norwood and Fordham Manor, according to the NYPD.

No one was injured in the crash and no other vehicles were involved, cops said.

Hernandez has been charged with driving while intoxicated and refusing to take a breathalyzer test, police said.
