WILLIAMSBURG — A 50-year-old FedEx driver was killed when his tractor-trailer was rear-ended by a UPS truck on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway late Tuesday, police said.

William Gardner Jr.'s truck was struck from behind by the massive UPS vehicle near the Broadway overpass just before 11:30 p.m., according to the NYPD.

The impact sent the FedEx truck careening into a wall on the right shoulder under the overpass, ejecting Gardner from the passenger window, cops said.

Gardner, who lived in New Hope, Pa., was already dead by the time paramedics arrived at the scene moments later, police said.

The UPS truck slammed into a median, but the driver of the vehicle, a 51-year-old man whom police did not identify, was not injured, NYPD officials said.

Cops did not issue him summonses or charge him in the incident, but police said the investigation was ongoing.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
