Off-Duty NYPD Cop Arrested for Driving While Intoxicated

An off-duty cop was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated in Queens on Sept. 25, 2012

OZONE PARK — An off-duty cop was arrested early Tuesday for drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident, authorities said.

Meenawatti Chandrekha, 38, who police said works out of Brooklyn, was driving on Liberty Avenue about 3 a.m. when the incident happened.

The NYPD did not say if Chandrekha struck another vehicle, but no one was injured in the crash.

Chandrekha was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident, police said.
