THE BRONX — A tree fell across the 5 train tracks in The Bronx Tuesday afternoon, cutting off subway service for about an hour, the MTA said.

The tree fell across the tracks at the Gun Hill Road station about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, forcing the MTA to suspend 5 train service in both directions between East 180th Street and the Eastchester – Dyre Avenue Station, the MTA said.

No one was hurt, and 5 service resumed about 4:30 p.m., the MTA said.

Forecasters had predicted high winds Tuesday as storms blew through New York. The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning that is in effect until 7 p.m.
