Sexy 'Anglo-India' Style Hits Parke & Ronen Runway

By Patrick Michael Hughes | September 11, 2012 8:24am

CHELSEA — Let's hear it for the boys.

Menswear brand Park & Ronen showed off its signature sportswear and sexy swim fashions on a steamy evening last Friday at the vast Pier 57 in Chelsea.

The brand, founded in 1997 by Parke Lutter and Ronen Jehezkel, has a reputation for creating looks for the style-conscious urban male at its store locations in New York and Los Angeles. Celebrities such as Mario Lopez have worn their swimwear, and actress Jennifer Aniston donned a Parke & Ronen accessory in her nude layout for GQ.

The Spring 2013 collection, "Anglo-India," reflected the recurring runway trend of heritage looks. The 44-look collection featured a rich array of colors and patterns, including tangerine stripe, rose print, taffeta and pimento dot on a variety of tailored and leisure pieces. The silhouette's names were also evocative of the collection's concept — from the Ceylon bomber jacket and King’s cardigan to Mountbatten trousers and Malabar tank tops.

The collection captured a few trends spotted on the street during the summer. For example, Parke & Ronan featured a V-neck Ashram with contrasting white piping at the neck and sleeves, as well as a wide indigo band stripe at the waist. We also took note of runway looks like the Edward shirt in red madras double-faced cotton voile.

The designer's direction in terms of knitwear was also felt, with traditional cardigans, cricket sweaters and boat-neck pullovers focused on intricate open-weave stitching, revealing the body. Tone-on-tone color blocking was also quite eye-catching.
