Police Investigate Alleged Rape in Riverside Park

UPPER WEST SIDE — Cops are investigating a 19-year-old woman's claim that she was raped early Tuesday in Riverside Park.

The woman reported the attack about 2:30 a.m., according to the NYPD.

The alleged attack happened inside the park at Dinosaur Playground near West 96th Street, NBC New York reported.

An NYPD spokesman said the woman said she did not know her attacker.

She was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in stable condition.

Alina Larson, a magazine editor who lives in the Upper West Side, said she was wary of Riverside Park at night.

"Riverside is quiet, [has] less light. There are more dark corners," Larson, 43, said. "It's a less populated park, so it's more likely you'd run into an unsavory character."
