QUEENS — A fire broke out at a Willets Point scrapyard Friday morning, sending a pillar of black smoke high above the U.S. Open nearby, fire officials said.

The blaze broke out at 126-26 Willets Point Blvd. at 11:29 a.m. and was quickly put out, an FDNY spokesman added.

One man was transported to New York-Presbyterian Hospital with burns, the spokesman said.

Photos posted to social media show numerous cars wrapped in flames and billowing smoke.

The tournament's tennis matches went on as scheduled.

It’s unclear what caused the fire, a fire spokesman said.
