By Jess Wisloski | August 13, 2012 9:08pm

EAST VILLAGE — Police are looking for a man who violently attacked a woman before robbing her inside an East Village building last weekend.

The NYPD released a photograph and video of a man they believe attacked the 28-year-old woman, inside an Avenue C building on Saturday at 11:46 p.m., police said.

The suspect allegedly followed the victim into 116 Avenue C., near East 8th Street, and when she started climbing the stairs, he pulled her down from behind, police said.

The man punched the woman in the face several times before grabbing her purse off her shoulder, and fleeing the building, police said.

The NYPD described the suspect as 25 to 30 years old, 5-foot-7, and with close cropped hair. He was last seen wearing a dark T-shirt, beige shorts, and high-topped sneakers, police said.

The NYPD asks anyone with information related to the crime to contact CrimeStoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or to submit a report at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com. All calls are kept confidential.
