Man Dies After Jumping Off George Washington Bridge

A man jumped off the George Washington Bridge on Aug. 2, 2012, according to Port Authority officials

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — A man jumped off the George Washington Bridge on Thursday and died, Port Authority officials said.

The unidentified man leaped from the south sidewalk near the bridge's New York tower around 12:30 p.m., according to PA spokesman Steve Coleman.

The NYPD's harbor unit discovered the man's body in the water nearby, Coleman said.
