MIDTOWN — A fire broke out in Madison Square Garden Monday afternoon, the FDNY said.

Eighty-four firefighters responded to the blaze on the sixth floor of 8 Penn Plaza, the building above Penn Station, about 4:20 p.m. Monday, a spokesman for the FDNY said.

It took the firefighters about an hour to bring the fire under control, the spokesman said.

No injuries were reported.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the fire.

In June, a fire that started in the generator room at Madison Square Garden also did not cause any injuries.
