UPPER WEST SIDE — Cops are investigating the discovery of a man who had been stabbed to death inside the Narragansett Hotel on Broadway near West 93rd Street and Broadway, police said.

The man, 56, was discovered Friday afternoon when police responded at 2:59 p.m., and found the the man suffering from a stab wound to the chest at 2508 Broadway, cops said. He was found unconscious and unresponsive, and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the FDNY.

Neighbors in the building, which is a single-room occupancy building, said the victim had moved in within the past six months.

Joseph McManus, 58, who has lived in the residence for seven years, said the victim had an intimidating presence, and went by the nickname "Outlaw."

Despite that, he said violent outbreaks weren't too common in the SRO.

"It shakes you up. It's different when somebody is killed close to you, and where you live," said McManus.

There were no arrests at the scene, and an investigation is ongoing, said the NYPD. The victim's identity had not yet been released Saturday, pending family notification.
