Police Searching for Clues in 1991 Unsolved Child Death

INWOOD — More than two decades after discovering the body of a malnourished child in a cooler along the Henry Hudson Parkway in Inwood, police have released a sketch of the girl, who investigators at the time named "Baby Hope."

The girl, who remains unidentified, was discovered inside a blue and white and blue cooler on the embankment of the roadway near the Dyckman toll plaza on July 23, 1991.

At the time of her death, she had dark brown or black hair and appeared to be malnourished, weighing about 25 pounds despite being between 4- and 4 ½-years-old.

Police who investigated the incident reportedly named the child "Baby Hope."
