Mom Charged With Murder in Failed Suicide Plot that Killed Two Children

By Jess Wisloski | July 7, 2012 6:24pm

THE BRONX —  A 29-year-old mom who poisoned her young children with a deadly mixture of juice and de-icer, then left them to die in gas-filled apartment as she tried to take her own life, was charged with both of their murders Saturday, police said.

Lisette Bamenga, who worked as a Brooklyn school teacher at P.S. 58, was arrested and charged with two counts of first- and second-degree murder, one for each of the children that died after drinking the concoction.

Bamenga led her son Trevor Noel, Jr., 5, and daughter Lillian Noel, 4 months, to drink the juice mixture then set off a gas leak in her ninth-floor apartment at 1500 Noble Ave. just before midnight Thursday, police said.

Neighbors called when they smelled the odor for the gasoline, and Bamenga was found unconscious at the scene, with cuts to her wrists, officials said Thursday.

An NYPD cop Trevor Noel, 31, is believed to be the father of both children, and stunned neighbors said Thursday that they had all seemed like such a perfect family.
