WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — A 12-year-old boy was struck by an ambulette and seriously injured Tuesday afternoon on West 165th Street, officials said.

The young victim was hit by the van in front of 470 West 165th Street, an FDNY spokesman said.

"I was coming out of school," said Leyda Peguero, a seventh-grader at nearby MS 326. "When I came out there were a lot of people crowding around.

"I saw a little boy on the floor with blood on his face," she added.

Paramedics rushed him to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition, he added.

Witnesses said the boy attended MS 328, but the Department of Education could not confirm that.

The NYPD did not immediately have information about the incident. It was unclear if the driver remained at the scene.
