MANHATTAN — I'll Have Another's chance at winning the Triple Crown at this weekend's Belmont Stakes are in danger, according to a news report.

The Local 3 chapter of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers is threatening to strike Friday, a day before the race, if contract talks are not resolved with the New York Racing Association, the Daily News reported.

The main sticking points of the talks involve overtime pay and the workweek structure for the expected 150 workers at the race. NYRA issued a statement on Monday night, asserting: "It is extremely self-serving for Local 3 to use the attention and excitement of a Triple Crown to attempt to further its own agenda."

"Nobody wants to be the bad guy," Local 3 business manager Chris Erikson told the News, and insisted that the union was "not utilizing the timing" of I'll Have Another's potentially historic victory to "extract anything out of NYRA other than a fair agreement."
